キーンって耳鳴りするときない？
耳鳴りは何かの前兆みたいなことを読んだことがあるから、そういう時は一応気を付けて周りを見るような癖があった。
仕事で雑居ビルに行く機会が多くて、その日も夜八時頃に用事のあるテナントのあるビルに入って、エレベーターで3階に上がった。
エレベーターから降りた所で丁度耳鳴りがした。
さっきの癖があるから、周りを伺っていたんだけど、別れてる廊下の右手から包丁がゆっくり出てきた。
パニックになり、すぐ横のテナントに逃げ込んだ。ドアを押さえながら事情を説明したら、その店の店員は、俺のことを気味悪がりながらも警察を呼んでくれた。
警察が来た頃にはもう不審な人物はいなかったんだけど、監視カメラには包丁を持った男が映っていたらしく、結構な騒ぎになった。
男は包丁を持ってビルに入って廊下をうろついた後、またエレベーターで下に降りて、何もせず出ていったらしい。
その後も周辺で目立った事件はなかったから、なんでそんなことをしていたのかは俺は知らないけど、耳鳴りを気にかけていなかったら、廊下の先で男と鉢合わせていたと思うとゾッとする。

我读到过，耳鸣可能是某种征兆，所以当它发生时，我总是小心翼翼地四处查看。
我的工作需要我去很多拥挤的大楼，那天我在晚上8点左右走进一个大楼，乘电梯上到三楼。
就在我下电梯的时候，我听到了耳边的铃声。

Do you ever get that squeaky ringing in your ears?
I've read that ringing in the ears is a sign of something, so I've always been careful to look around when it happens.
I often go to crowded buildings for work, and on that day, I entered a building with a tenant I had to deal with around eight o'clock at night, and took the elevator up to the third floor.
Just as I got off the elevator, I heard a ringing in my ears.
I was asking around because of my earlier habit, and a kitchen knife slowly came out from the right side of the hallway where we were parting.
I panicked and ran to the tenant right next to me. I explained the situation while holding the door, and the clerk of the store, though creeped out by me, called the police.
By the time the police arrived, there was no one suspicious anymore, but the surveillance camera had caught a man with a knife, and there was quite a commotion.
It seems that the man entered the building with the knife, wandered around the hallway, took the elevator down again, and left without doing anything.
I don't know why he was doing that, because there was no significant incident in the area after that, but I shudder to think that if I hadn't been paying attention to the ringing in my ears, I would have run into the guy at the end of the hallway.
